Ami Shulman

Ami Shulman was born and raised in South Africa and graduated with Honors  with a B.A. in Performing Arts from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. She has been based in Montréal since 2001 and has worked prolifically in diverse aspects of theatre; from performance to set, costume, and lighting design. She has danced with numerous highly regarded choreographers, including Gregory Maqoma, José Navas, and Marie Chouinard. She is currently working in collaboration with musician and videographer Joseph Rovan. As a teacher of contemporary technique she has taught at The Juilliard School, Rotterdam Dance Academy, Brown University, the University of the Witwatersrand, Concordia University, and the Springboard Project in Montréal. Shulman works as a rehearsal director for several dance companies and artists; most notably for Compagnie Marie Chouinard, José Navas, and Compagnie Flak. Shulman continues to tour internationally as a performer, educator and rehearsal director.
